Our State-Of-Art Facilities

The National Institute for Security Studies is located within the precincts of the serene lower Usuma Dam, in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. It is surrounded by the beautiful Bwari hills beside which lies the Usuma dam. The institute boasts state of the art facilities which ensure course participants have a pleasurable stay throughout the duration of their course. Furthermore, these facilities are constantly renovated and expanded, while new ones are added in line with global standards.

Lecture Venues

NISS has two large capacity auditoriums that are equipped with state of the art audio/video equipment to cater for lectures and presentations.

Accommodation

NISS has ample accommodation to cater for its staff and participants. Since the major courses run at the institute are fully residential, great care has been taken to provide comfortable accommodation for students, which consists of fully furnished, en-suite hostel rooms. The house keeping section being the custodian of all hostel facilities as well as their maintenance, also render hospitality services to guarantee the comfort of course participants throughout the duration of their course.

Cafteria

The Cafeteria is designed to meet the modern standards expected of an institution that caters for top level management. Course participants are assured of mouth watering meals throughout the duration of their stay at NISS.

Clinic

The clinic at the Institute is a primary health center with qualified medical staff to cater for the medical needs of the institute’s community and course participants. Management of the Institute also ensure the clinic is well stocked with vital drugs at all times. At the commencement of each course, the Doctors carry out a mandatory medical checkup on each participant. Patients with medical conditions that cannot be treated at the clinic are referred to the DSS Medical Center or National Hospital, Abuja.

Library

NISS boasts a fully functional library equipped with relevant collections of books and study materials that can satisfy the needs of course Participants. The library which opens by 08:00 hours and closes at 22:00 hours, always has a library attendant available within these periods to assist those wishing to access the facility. The library can currently sit 35 readers at a time and the serenity of the environment makes it ideal for students to conduct research. The Institute seizes every opportunity to stock the library with current works/literature for the upliftment of academic study/research.
